Reminds me of a very old TV motorcycle racing video game commercial. Puttering racer going nowhere finally gets off and yells at an old woman at the controls. “Hey lady!, hit the gas, you’re killing me!!! And cut the turn signal!!”

If the sign was supposed to be useful it would give a distance instead of just saying rest stop.

I’ve been behind someone like that, not necessarily holding up traffic, but since the indicator is on not sure what he/she will do next. Very unnerving.

It’s straight road, no even trees to obstruct the view so why aren’t they passing??

I grew up in a tourist area with a lot of 2 lane roads and we got stuck behind slow RVs on our way to work, etc. We knew well just where and when to pass and this would be a no brainer.

Because the turn signal is for a left turn is my guess. Try to pass and the idiot might actually turn into you!

My pet peeve is driving across US2. There is always someone pulling a trailer doing five under the speed limit with cars backup, but when you get to the two lane passing zone, the idiot speeds up to 70mph to keep people from passing.

In our rural area, you often get stuck behind some old guy wearing a hat, driving an an older car. It’s likely a farmer who sees no need to go faster than 45 MPH. After all, he’s “just going to the farmhouse a few miles down the road.” Lots of two-lane curved roads and hills in our area, too.

My favorite road sign was out in Utah. “No services next 120 miles”. For real, it makes you second guess whether your fluid levels are all ok.

Speed limit in our small residential area is 25. 2 lane streets, people walking with or without pets, children playing or school buses unloading. Idiot does a fast run up and tries to pass vehicle doing limit. Keeps weaving trying to ‘push’ other vehicle which continued at speed limit. Fortunately idiot’s turn came up after only 100,’ and he did a high speed turn into his cul de sac and driveway. Walkers applauded. : )

    By the numbers:

You have a 50 mile commute to work. You can drive the speed limit: 65 mph or an insane and unsafe 80 mph. The difference is about 8.5 minutes.

Of course this is unrealistic when traffic limits everyone to about 15 mph.

I used to drive from Tacoma to Bellevue daily. The trip took about 1.5 hours. One morning as I was attempting to merge onto I-405, the care behind me pulled out and passed me as I was trying to merge into the lane. He then proceeded to zoom, change lanes and brake at every opportunity. Eventually, I lost sight of him in the rest of the traffic Meanwhile I just sat back and tried my best to enjoy the ride.

I got off at my exit 11 miles later. He was in front of the car in front of me at the light. I was relatively relaxed, I imagine he was frazzled and still had a whole day of work in front of him.

Slow means only 10MPH over the limit. 20MPH is even considered by some to be slow.

When I find myself as the lead car in a situation like this, I pull over and let the faster traffic pass. Usually a sight seeing ride.

A tech hint from the world’s best drivers…Geezers.

If your turn signal keeps shutting off, use a rubber band to keep it in the on position.

And don’t forget, all windows up, keep your hat on in the car, stare straight ahead and keep the wheel in a death grip.

The first and only time I drove 100 mph was when I saw a car blowing smoke about 200 feet in front of me, about to merge from his highway to the one I was on. I thought there was no way I was going to let him get in front of me. Sped up, eyes focused on the car, passed him then looked at my speedometer. I slowed down real quick, but still focusing on the car in my rear view mirror.

I once had a job up in Oak Creek Canyon, Az. It was about 6 miles from the center of Sedona and on a good day, it took no more than about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the job. I was working 3-11 pm and it would take me anywhere up to an hour or more to get to the job because of the tourists meandering through the canyon in their RVs and stopping in the middle of the highway to take pictures.

No matter what time I left Sedona, I was almost always late or close to it. Needless to say, my boss wasn’t exactly understanding. The one afternoon he arrived after me cursing and swearing under his breath.

“I apologize for ever doubting you!” he said to me. “It’s just taken me an hour and ten minutes to get back from town! I was stuck behind a bunch of #*%¡$x&! tourists the whole way and couldn’t pass a single car. No wonder you’re in such a lousy mood when you get here!”

On the road of life, if your path is clear and unobstructed, look behind you. If you see a lot of cars move over and let people who know what they’re doing go by.

This is why I never trust a turn signal if I’m turning right into traffic. For all I know, it’s been blinking for 10 miles.

The best ones are the ones with the four-way flasher on. You don’t know if they are stopping, turning or WTF they doing. Then the German cars with the rear fog light on a regular night. Look dear , this car has fog lights!

I’m the Turn-out King. I’ll pull over if I can find as much as a wide driveway. It’s MUCH better than getting involved in a three-car crash when some impatient clown in an underpowered car tries to pass the two cars behind me on a blind curve.

State trooper is patrolling Highway 22 when he comes across a motorist going extremely slow. Sincfe that can also be a hazard he pulls the car over. The driver is a little old lady with two other old ladies in back. He asks why she was driving so slowly and she tells him, “I was driving the speed limit. I always drive the speed limit which is 22.” The trooper explains that that was a route identifier and not the speed limit. He then notices the passengers are extremely upset and asks if they are alright. One of the passengers tells him, “Just before you pulled us over we were on Highway 126.”

Um; one can equate this toon to the current problems of EV users waiting in line FOREVER for their chance to re-charge said vehicle(s). I see it everytime I go to the store as their parking lot only has 12 stations. A dozen or so EV users waiting their turn!

There is a great cartoon by the late Gahan Wilson. It shows a police car on a narrow curving road on the side of a mountain with a string of cars behind it. The driver of the police car says to his partner, “Let’s see what they’ll do at 15 MPH.”

I don’t get upset by a slow driver who is usually older. They may not have anyone to run errands for them and a car is their only transportation. Like it or not, we are all going to get old and we don’t know what our condition is going to be. I’m 69 and just found out that when I turn 70, I have to take the written exam, but no driving. Some may know all the right answers and still be a bad driver. Slow reaction time, confusion, health issues, whatever. I’m not worried about passing, but who knows about someday. I will stop driving when they pry my license out of my cold dead hand.

“I will stop driving when they pry my license out of my cold dead hand.”

    Um. No.

You will stop driving when a clerk at a DL station (or a judge in court after you are ticketed) asks you to hand over your license and issues you a non-driver ID. Having your license canceled also cancels your coverage under insurance, and all states now require you to be insured to operate a particular motor vehicle.

NOTE: Even if the vehicle is insured under someone else’s name, if you operate it on a rescinded license the liability insurance is void.
