My parents took me there in the early 60s. We didn’t tour Congress or The White House but we saw many of the monuments. Walked up the Washington Memorial. Spent two afternoons at the Smithsonian. Saw the Washington Cathedral. At that point a lot of the side chapels were unfinished.
