I took both in Junior High. The Latin was mandatory for those of us in the “college prep” group, but I hated it and wanted to learn a practical language like Spanish. I volunteered to take typing in summer school, which not many boys did, and I’m so glad since it helped me throughout college, especially getting into computers. I’ve written 13 novels, most of them before voice-to-text was an option. I couldn’t have done that without being moderately competent on a keyboard.
My handwriting is still bad, partly due to arthritis. It seems that whenever I have trouble balancing my checkbook, it’s because I misread a number I’d entered. I have trouble reading my own writing.
Yep. It’s about 10 miles due east from my house.
