Our dogs got 1000 cards the last time. Usually, they used to get 500. I suspect they are phasing out the cards, which would be a shame. Kids especially love them, plus adults who miss their own pets or want to show off which dogs visited them in the hospital. There are pictures on the cards, and information about them on the back, such as favorite toys and birth dates. My name is not on the card, but is on both Bunny’s badge and mine.

I suspect in a few hours you could plant rice in my basement. We had a whopper storm and I think my sump pump is burned out. It will flood overnight and there is nothing I can do about it. The water was already higher than it should be. I should maybe go rescue my sewing machine before it’s too late.

I was trying to read my comics and deal with the storm at the same time. I had to close some blinds because I thought the windows were going to be broken. This one was a whopper, and no, I didn’t seek shelter. I was reading my comics.

We had a storm and so much rain earlier that I think my sump pump is burned out. That means tomorrow I have to get a new one, and my basement will be very wet. People wonder why I don’t get such a nice large basement finished off. The pump should have been good for another 5 years, at least. I no longer can install them myself.

Beagles are very social. This one loves a crowd and will visit with each person at least twice.

She certainly kept me and took over my life. I am so glad I went online when I could not find a dog in local shelters and asked a hunting site on Facebook to let me know if anyone had a young dog or a puppy. I ended up getting Bunny from the first person to respond to me, and she was 6 years old. I could not have asked for a better dog unless she would willingly sit on my lap. (I suspect she was never put on anyone’s lap when she was young, so it now feels foreign to her, or perhaps she tried and was told not to when she was young. I will never know.) She will sit on the laps of patients if they are sitting in a chair rather than the bed in the hospital.

Me too. I am just allergic to cats now and get my fix from my neighbor’s cats when they are outside.

That is wonderful! Dogs can provide a lot of services and doing it with a program, in my opinion, is the way to go. However, dogs trained by a program can run up to $75,000, depending on the skills, and maybe even more than that.

    It’s OK to like both.

That was for therapy dogs, and here they have to go to classes and test and get certified for therapy dog. Service dogs don’t technically require any specific training or testing unless they are coming from some place like where they train dogs for the blind. There are many other services that dogs can do, but I am familiar with a training school for dogs for the blind. They train for years.
