This avatar image is of a once (frequently) recurring "Frog Applause" character known as "Grace the Face." Some readers wondered if this is a likeness of me. Nope. Sorry, if I disappointed anyone. Oh, and... Grace doesn't generally wear this eye patch. She's just trying to be fashionably lame for her appearance here. ♥

At first, I used apostrophes in place of her eyes and nose. It was ugly. I also considered misusing apostrophes in my text, but that was just too painful. I hate, hate, hate… indifference to words like its/it’s. A typo is a typo, but to not CARE, nuh-uh – can’t abide that.

I don’t generally talk about my process, do I? Should I keep this information to myself from now on?

Um, do I have weird timing or what? Go to “BEST OF” at the top of this page. Pull down to reveal “BLOG.” There’s an article titled, “Jim Davis Reveals the Secret to Garfield’s Timeless Popularity.” Hopefully, JD won’t see today’s FA cartoon.

I have access to “invisible” stats that give me daily pageviews. Where it says “My Comics” is a pull-down thingy that gives me all kinds of demographic thingamastuff. For example, there’s a graph that compares today’s pageviews to last month’s views. I see how many Facebook or other social media shares I get—- as well as the most viewed FA overall for a specified time period. It’s very, VERY basic. I’d really like to know where my readers come from, though. Who is a first time visitor? Anyone visiting from Madagascar?

Nothing shaves off subscribers faster than a cartoon like one. (My ex-subscribers didn’t even say good-bye or flip me off before leaving. At the very least, they could have exhibited the flehmen response.)

    The flehmen response, huh?

“The proboscis of the tapir is a highly flexible organ, able to move in all directions, allowing the animals to grab foliage that would otherwise be out of reach. Tapirs often exhibit the flehmen response, a posture in which they raise their snouts and show their teeth to detect scents.”

OM! Great observation. It was supposed to be feeding little baby tapirs, but I really like the idea of feeding a baby some tapirs.

Wow. That’s a different way of saying HB… but I like it!
